Here at Training Qualifications UK, we like to make sure you’re kept aware of all the most important goings-on in the world of End-Point Assessment. With that in mind, this week we look at updates to the Hair Professional standard, updates to our resources and mocks on Verve EPA.

Hair Professional End-Point Assessment Flexibilities

Further to our recent update regarding potential flexibilities for the End-Point Assessment for the Hair Professional standard, we would like to offer some additional clarification.

At present, we are fully operational with EPA delivery as per the current published assessment plan. Feedback from Training Providers and our own EPA Assessors continues to be very positive in relation to how well salons and Apprentices have adapted practice to be COVID-19 safe and fully compliant with government guidance.

The recent update from the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) confirms that they have approved some ‘potential’ flexibilities that the Employer group proposed to support and safeguard the continuation of End-Point Assessment, should current restrictions change or localised lockdowns prevent the current plan from being fully deliverable.

This forward thinking means that should the current COVID-19 measures change, potentially-required flexibilities and dispensations have already been approved, making it easier and faster for us to implement and prevent any further delays to EPA for this standard.

All such flexibilities and dispensations need to be requested and approved on an individual basis and therefore we strongly advise all centres to contact us should they have any concerns regarding their Apprentice’s ability to undertake the End-Point Assessment, as per business-as-usual, and the current plan. Such approvals may require a Reasonable Adjustment or Special Consideration application.

To further detail these flexibilities and dispensations, please see our Hair Professional COVID-19 Flexibilities/ Dispensations document.

This document can also be found on our Verve EPA System under the Hair Professional standard.

Resource update

Great news! Our Level 2 Early Years Practitioner resources will be available to view and download on our Verve EPA System from Monday 12th October.

Coming soon – Resources for both our Level 3 Advanced & Creative Hair Professional and Level 2 Healthcare Cleaning Operative Standards are currently in production and will be ready to view on our Verve EPA System shortly. As always, we will of course update you as soon as they are live and ready!

If have any questions in relation to this update, feel free to contact us at epa@tquk.org.

Mocks on Verve EPA – Using the Latest Version (reminder)

We always ensure that we update our centres of any new or updated mock materials that are live on our Verve EPA system. For best practice, we ask that any and all mocks are always downloaded directly from Verve EPA – this is purely to ensure that the latest versions only are in use. We will of course keep you updated of any new updates or changes as we move forward.

Should you have any questions or require any support in relation to this, please contact the assessment team at assessment@tquk.org and a member of the team will be happy to support.

And finally, we would like to take a moment to thank all our centres for your continued support and commitment. Should you require any further support in relation to End-Point Assessment, feel free to contact the EPA Team. – we are always happy to help.
